Indonesian Government Threatening Will End BlackBerry Messenger Services in Indonesia

Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body (BRTI) said they would probably end the Blackberry messenger services in Indonesia after Research in Motion (RIM) prefer to build a server in Singapore than in Indonesia. Since RIM does not want to work together, so maybe we will end the Blackberry Internet Service service and fuel. ''Therefore BB would just like any other phone,''explains BRTI member Heru Sutiadi to the Jakarta Post reported Friday.

Last September, RIM makes a commitment by government to carry out 4 pieces of the agreement before 31 December. One is the formation of a server or data center. Although the agreement does not specify where the server will be built, the government continues to feel RIM should make a priority to Indonesia which is the country most BlackBerry users in Southeast Asia, far exceeding the users in Singapore.

Urging the government is mainly for security reasons. Currently, all data exchange via the BIS and the fuel is processed in Canada, RIM's home, where our government is not possible to monitor and protect data sent and received by millions of BB users in Indonesia. ''With these conditions present, we are cautioned to BB users in this country because the exchange of data is not safe or not guaranteed security,''said Heru.
